When this photo was taken, Wilpshire was probably not really looked upon, as being just an area of Blackburn, but a township within its own right. The fact that this tram route terminated here, adds weight to that, I think.

Wow this is a bit scary. I remember Knowsley Road dropping away as can be seen in this photo. I had totally forgotten that the "kink" at the top, to put the entrance at right angles to Whalley New Road, was done sometime during my lifetime.I would hazard a guess at sometime in the sixties or seventies
ReplyDeleteI would have thought the alterations would have been done in the 1960's, if not even earlier Roy. I remember my mum taking us to Clitheroe on the bus, when I was a small child in the early 1960's, but don't remember it looking like this. It looked as it does today
