More J. Eddleston photographs from 1963

Here's another little slide show I've put together using more of John Eddleston's collection of photographs from 1963. This time set to Gerry & The Pacemakers  ''Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying'' which I think was actually from 1964 (Near enough though, it's the photos that are important).

I'll be getting back to the regular posts before long. I'm just having fun putting the video clips together and anyway, these pictures are always worth another look.

    must admit,, John Eddleston took some great snaps from my most memorable decade the 60s, l have very fond memories from this period in Blackburn,,some a bit hazy due to the passing of time,,but on the whole a very happy time for me personally,,,keep up the good work colin and pass on my appreciation to mr eddlestone,,

    Sadly, I have a feeling that John Eddleston is no longer with us badfinger. I can't be sure, but I know that when the two books of his photos came out in the 1990's, he was in a residential home in Southport, so was probably quite elderly back then, 15 years or so ago.

    Hopefully a relative or someone else told him at the time, that his photos from the early 60's had been published in those two little books. It would be nice to think that he knew they were being appreciated.

      Im sure your right colin, its no coincidence that most of john eddlestons wonderful snaps of old blackburn are some of the best of all,,certainly from my perticular period,all in all every contributer gets my total respect for their excellent endeavours,,that of course includes your goodself,,

      HI colin, not sure if my comment went through,l want to convey my utmost respect to everyone involved past and present for their selfless dedication and obviouse love for their town that comes across in their pictures and posts,when l can access the family laptop sites such as this always take priority, l have only just scraped the surface when it comes to computer competence, hopefully its not too long before l can put something together and contribute myself,,keep up the good work colin,

      Thanks for your comments. The first one got through. There's a delay in comments appearing on-screen, as they have to be moderated/approved first. I only visit the site as and when I can these days, other things take priority. If I'm on the computer and I remember, then I have a look on here, but sometimes there's a day or two between my visits.

      Sadly I don't have as much time to devote to it as I did in the past. I just leave it 'live' as the stats tell me people still visit regularly.

      I agree with you about the Eddleston photos, they are a fantastic archive of how our town was just prior to redevelopment.
